Our volunteer Vitaly Dorofeev visited Liman with the Rise Up Ukraine partner fund immediately after the deoccupation. The trip lasted 3 days in total.

The condition of the Lyman community could be described as catastrophic: instead of roads, just a direction, children from 6 to 11 years old are standing at the abandoned roadblocks and asking for help, colossal destruction, downed power lines, broken houses, shops, burned cars, the fire station building is destroyed, dogs run in packs. In some areas, people have not seen bread for more than 3 weeks.

In Lyman, we managed to agree on organized humanitarian aid delivery points. There, we tried to help primarily the elderly and families with children. They also visited the nearby village of Drobysheve to distribute the remaining aid and meet Nadiya Lyashko, the secretary of the city council. Getting to know Nadiya personally will help us gather the needs of the locals and coordinate the next humanitarian trips to Liman even more effectively, because our help in this direction is extremely important.

We believe that already during our next trip to Liman, we will see how the city comes to life.
