On June 19, the National Bank of Ukraine issued commemorative coins dedicated to Mykola Khvylovy and Yulian Shpol — artists of the Executed Renaissance.
This is a document of memory. About those whose talent was destroyed systematically, brutally, with the intent to erase the very notion of Ukrainian culture. About those whose names are returning today — despite the silence of archives and the stones of oblivion.

The coins launch a new series dedicated to the Executed Renaissance — the tragic generation of Ukrainian intellectuals of the 1920s–30s, who managed to ignite an era — and were killed for their words, for their style, for their Ukrainian identity.

We find it symbolic that today the state — through art, through coins, films, and public events — is restoring the voice of those who should have long lived in our cultural memory.
Because culture is not only about creation. It is also about resistance. And memory — is also a form of struggle. We are grateful to everyone who preserves it.
And we were glad to be part of the event that, thanks to the support of the National Bank of Ukraine, restores dignity and voice to our artists!
