Challenges and Needs of Ukrainians in Times of Full-Scale War
It's hard to imagine that in the 21st century, some countries are attacking others, while others are fighting the world's main enemy and defending all of Europe by covering themselves. But that's the reality. Confronted with the threat to its existence, Ukraine not only stood its ground but also effectively functions as a state.
The harsh russian-Ukrainian war and the imposition of martial law have led to changes in all spheres of Ukrainian society, an unprecedented decline in the national economy, and necessitated transformations and changes in politics, state economic regulation, and adaptation of legislation to new challenges. Currently, most Ukrainians face stress, threats to life and safety, and inadequate access to basic life necessities.
Firstly, it's about security and protection of fundamental rights and freedoms. Residents of the front-line territories feel the threat to their lives and incredible stress on a daily basis.
Secondly, it's the lack of essential resources and sufficient humanitarian aid. Due to the war and forced displacement, thousands of people have lost their homes and sources of income. Medical services have become inaccessible, and access to vital resources such as food and water is limited.
Thirdly, it's economic destabilization. russia's aggression against Ukraine undoubtedly affects the economy of our country, reducing the number of jobs and increasing the cost of living. Many people find themselves in dire financial conditions, unable to provide for themselves and their families. According to the World Bank, the number of people in Ukraine living below the poverty line has increased tenfold since the start of the full-scale war: from 2 percent to over 25 percent.
Despite the difficult economic situation, Ukrainian businesses and citizens have shown resilience and remarkable survival skills. However, the war has significantly shifted people's priorities.
Charitable assistance becomes vital to meet the basic needs of Ukrainians during these trials. Initiatives play a critical role in providing humanitarian aid, psychological support, and community recovery.
The charitable fund "Berehynia," founded by Nadiia Vovk ocuses its efforts on assisting those affected by the war, providing them with essential support and resources for recovery. We actively support our military, veterans, children, and the needy.
With your support and donations, the fund can continue its mission, helping those who need it most during these challenging times. Together, we can make a significant contribution to supporting the Ukrainian people!
Thus, we face what no country has encountered in recent history since World War II. Yet, we are a worthy example of resilience and strength, admired and supported by the entire civilized world. Ukraine will definitely prevail! However, at present, we critically need assistance from our friends and partners to ensure that overall reconstruction and recovery in post-war times become possible and happen. With the help of foreign partners and donors, this will undoubtedly occur, and we will do everything possible to withstand, win, and strengthen, modernize the state, rebuild the economy, and develop businesses every day.
Glory to Ukraine!
