City House of Culture in the city of Izyum

Opened in 1959, the City House of Culture in the city of Izyum has always been the heart of the city and played a special role in the life of the townspeople, working as a registry office – a place where hearts connected in love and marriage. We were lucky enough to meet the head of the House of Culture, who told us about the current events in this iconic place.

We learned how he survived the occupation and how the City House of Culture served as a bomb shelter for people, protecting them in difficult times. Even now, we have the opportunity to see exactly what the bomb shelter looks like inside this building, which housed approximately 50 people at a time.
